FAQ

Q:

What is virtual domain website hosting?

A:

We specialize in virtual domain website hosting which means that you can find a home for your website with DBCompNet and establish a presence on the Internet for personal use or business purposes. We will handle the process of registering your domain name for you. There are several advantages of having a virtual domain name, some of which are outlined below:

  1. Having your own domain name does not suggest that you are renting webspace.
  2. Since E-mail can be addressed to your virtual domain (www.yourname.com) you will not have to announce a new web site URL and E-mail address if you change Internet providers.
Q:

Do you offer web design services?

A: Yes, we offer a variety of web design packages to meet your needs. We specialize in total E-Commerce solutions for businesses that are interested in selling their services or products online. If you are interested in any of our web design services please visit our services website to see what we have to offer!
Q:

Can I check domain name availability?

A: You can check whether or not a domain name is available using our domain check. Type in the domain name you want and the InterNIC information will be displayed if the domain name is taken. You can only search for top level domains (.com, .net, .org) from this web page.
Q:

Does DBCompNet handle domain registration?

A: If you register for your own domain name and purchase our hosting services, DBCompNet will handle the domain name registration. Once you submit an order with us, we automatically send the new domain name application to Registrar for you. On the domain name record, you will be listed as the Administrative and Billing contact. DBCompNet will be listed as the Technical Contact.
Q:

Can I transfer an existing domain to DBCompNet?

A:

You can transfer an existing domain to DBCompNet at any time. DBCompNet will even make the transfer "transparent". That is, if your domain is currently being hosted with another hosting service and you want to transfer the domain to our hosting services, we will set it up so that the domain transfers to our servers and no one will be able to tell. Your website will never be inaccessible while the domain is being transferred to our server.

Remember that DBCompNet will also handle the transfer application of your domain name as well.

Q:

How do I transfer files to my website?

A: Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transfer Protocol(FTP).
Q:

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

A: You have unlimited access via File Transfer Protocol(FTP) 24 hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your website at your leisure.
Q:

What contract and payment terms are available?

A: We accept payment using credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and PayPal.
Q:

Do you offer technical support to customers?

A: Yes. We encourage our customers in need of assistance to send email to our technical support department with questions or concerns.
Q:

How do I place an order?

A: You can place an order for a virtual domain account with us from by calling (416) 977-2834.
